Day 59 | I Believe I Can Fly!

{Pic taken from concrete splattered window in office kitchen}

There is some major building works happening in my work place and I am in awe of these builders who work non-stop from morning to evening in this cold winter braving cold showers, heavy downpours, snow, sleet, wind n all! May be it's time I stopped complaining about my workload!!!

Day 58 | Early Morning

Late to bed and early to rise makes one sleepy, tired and grumpy!

DH has to catch an early train on business trip which only meant we had to get up at un-Godly hour, stuff some food in our mouth and get crying, whining, screaming and running Lil Dumpling dressed at lightening speed, drop him at daycare way early and drive to work! And we did manage to get there 10 minutes before the scheduled time! Whoa....

Day 57 | Dark and Gloomy Day

Just like my mood today! The photo reflects my state of mind as today we left Lil Dumpling at daycare after spending one full week at home; laughing, cuddling, running around, snuggling, tickling, hugging, bugging and just being merry! Oh, how I miss him...

Day 56 | Pink for Boys

Blue for girls! Pink and blue for both boys and girls! Why not?!

I will be the last person to fall into marketing ploy when it comes to colour gender norms! Is pink is a symbol of feminism and blue being masculine colour? Do girls inherently prefer pink and boys inherently prefer blue? I seriously doubt it. Pink and purples are such a lovely colour and why should it only be associated with and loved by girls?! With my love for everything blue as in blue skies, and blue water, I will feel equally cheated if it was strictly associated with everything boys! When we talk about men and women equality and rights, why do we still continue to associate blue colour for boys and pink for girls?! May be our next generation will stop being preys to this mass marketing perspective!

Day 52 | Zen

We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.

Day 44 | Blah Day

It was such a blah day... First it started to snow, then there was sunshine n to top it up it rained like cats n dogs! It felt like the day was streaching like a chewing gum which you were chewing for the last couple of hours! Such a blah Wednesday!!!

Day 42 | Monday Whites

It snowed...again! But most the snow is washed away by the morning rain... And yet we woke up to this beautiful landscape and changed our Monday Blues to Monday Whites!

Day 41 | These Two

Although I greatly appreciate their help and love having them around while cooking, sometimes I just wish that they would just leave the kitchen to myself! Now who is going to tell them to leave the cooking bit to me? Looks like it's going to be me ;)

Day 40 | Peroid Drama Love

I absolutely loooove British period dramas and Call The Midwife is one of my favourite. Watching second series now and hope it meets my high expectation after watching the first series. Other period dramas I highly recommend are Downton Abbey, Agatha Christie's Piorot (love, love David Suchet) and Miss Marple.

Day 39 | Kiss Me Tenderly... Hold Me Tenderly

"Babies are soft. Anyone looking at them can see the tender, fragile skin and know it for the rose-leaf softness that invites a finger's touch. But when you live with them and love them, you feel the softness going inward, the round-cheeked flesh wobbly as custard, the boneless splay of the tiny hands. Their joints are melted rubber, and even when you kiss them hard, in the passion of loving their existence, your lips sink down and seem never to find bone. Holding them against you, they melt and mold, as though they might at any moment flow back into your body.

But from the very start, there is that small streak of steel within each child. That thing that says "I am," and forms the core of personality.

In the second year, the bone hardens and the child stands upright, skull wide and solid, a helmet protecting the softness within. And "I am" grows, too. Looking at them, you can almost see it, sturdy as heartwood, glowing through the translucent flesh.

The bones of the face emerge at six, and the soul within is fixed at seven. The process of encapsulation goes on, to reach its peak in the glossy shell of adolescence, when all softness then is hidden under the nacreous layers of the multiple new personalities that teenagers try on to guard themselves.

In the next years, the hardening spreads from the center, as one finds and fixes the facets of the soul, until "I am" is set, delicate and detailed as an insect in amber."

Day 37 | Spooky

I took this photograph with my mobile phone camera. The pic is little shaky and blurry, so I decided to give it a black and white effect using Instagram app. Voila, it almost looks like a ghost town now.Isn't it? 'Spooky' or 'eerie' is the word :)

Day 35 | Obsession

I broke the promise I made with myself about not buying any junk jewellary till end of March as I had spent a good money on it around Christmas time! Bad girl... But also a happy gitl with my purchase today ;)

Sunday 3 February 2013

Day 34 | Ganesha

Few paintings of Ganesha I did some odd years back adorns the wall next to Lil Dumpling's room these days... I'm not really an artist or good at art, but it gives me immense satisfaction in dribbling some bright colours on paper and transform white sheets into colourful ones!
